During Trick 'r Treat, the Lincoln Center’s "Scary Movies" program, Dylan Baker -- Dr. Curt Connors in the Spider-Man movies -- broached the issue of whether his part would become larger in the fourth Spider-Man film. Will his character become The Lizard like he does in the comics?

When Dougherty ribbed him about “just appearing in the background” Baker said that, basically, that’s what he’d be doing. It was unclear if they were being truthful or if, in fact, Dr. Connors would become supervillain The Lizard in this fourth entry in the film series. During their riffing, Dougherty used the phrase “c**ktease for another year” as to whether or not we’d see The Lizard.
After the disaster of Sand Man and Venom, having a great actor play a weird/awesome villain like The Lizard would be a cool change of pace. At this point it looks like Venom is (eventually) going to get his own movie, so we can count him out.
Dylan Baker is one of the better actors working in films today and it's about time he had his time to shine in a big studio movie. The man is a well of untapped talent, and seeing him turn into the ferocious Lizard would be something to look forward to.
It seems that the awesomeness of a villain in the comic books doesn't always correlate to the awesomeness of a villain in the movies. It's more about the actor who plays them. Think of Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina. I don't remember being terribly excited about seeing Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2, but then Molina gave him a three dimensionality we hadn't expected.
Perhaps the same will happen with The Lizard. Anyway, hasn't Baker put in his time? Give the man the spotlight. We know he's got the chops.
