Duncan Jones Goes Mute

For a while it sounded like Duncan Jones, the director of the new independent sci-fi film Moon, would be going on to do a submarine film titled Escape from the Deep. But his plans have changed. Instead he's delving into a Blade Runner-like world.

Jones's next film is now going to be Mute, a story about a bartender living in Berlin, and what Jones is describing as a sci-fi thriller mystery:

Mute is about a woman whose disappearance causes a mystery for her partner, a mute bartender. When she disappears, he has to go up against the city’s gangsters.

Mute will also have a bigger budget. Moon cost $5 million, while Mute will have a budget of around $25 million. After the impressive success of Jones' first film, it will be exciting to see what he can do with a bigger canvas.
