Director Search for Ghostbusters 3 Gets Narrowed Down

The rumors keep getting churned out of the rumor mill when it comes to Ghostbusters 3, but the latest of them gives us hope that this might actually be a sequel to look forward to.

No director has been announced for Ghostbusters 3 just yet, but it's looking pretty safe to say that it's not going to be Ivan Reitman, the director who did the first two movies. Dan Aykroyd -- co-writer of the first two films and the guy who played Ray Stanza in them -- has gone on record as saying that Reitman is "too busy as a mega-producer" to get behind the camera for number 3. Weakest excuse ever? Yes, yes it is.

However, with the bad news comes the good: Harold Ramis, who also co-wrote the first two movies, might just have risen in the ranks as contender to direct. Aykroyd said, "He has a lot of things going on, but it would be wonderful to see him do it." Yes it would. If we can't get Reitman, Ramis would definitely be the next best thing, if not the best thing period.

Slash Film tells us that Sigourney Weaver will, in fact, be part of the project, but that there's still no word about Rick Moranis. Does anybody still care? Well, even if you do, maybe he'll come to his senses by the time they shoot, which they're saying could happen as soon as winter.

Also: Aykroyd says the "new" team will consist of five Ghostbusters, of which more than one will be female. Not to sound sexist, but the more they change up the original awesomeness of Ghostbusters the less excited I get about this movie. Right now the top two contenders to become female Ghostbusters are Alyssa Milano and Eliza Dushku.

Anyone have any thoughts about this?
