BJ Penn is in strange place. He's the champion, he's dominated his division, and he's one of the best this game has ever seen but yet, he's coming into this fight against Kenny Florian almost as an underdog. His conditioning has always been his Achilles' heel -- never more present than in his last fight (a welterweight loss to Georges St-Pierre) -- and questions loom as to whether he still has the drive to compete at this level.
Kenny Florian, on the other hand, has always been the hard-working scrapper with more heart than talent. Immediately after Florian's devastating victory over Joe Stevenson at UFC 91, the airwaves filled with grumbles that KenFlo could be the one that will finally unseat the immovable object at 155. But with a rejuvenated attitude and new training camp, Penn isn't ready to forfeit his throne just yet. He's hired legendary strength trainer Marv Marinovich, removed himself from the distractions of Hawaii, and seems to be in serious shape.
