007 is back with guns blazing in Quantum of Solace. With every new Bond film there’s a new Bond girl (or several if we’re lucky). Over the history of Bond, the silver screen has graced us with many beautiful women, none more beautiful than those who slip into a bikini and tantalize Bond with their seductive powers.
So the tough question of the week - Which Bond girl looks hottest in a bikini?
Bikini #1 - Ursula Andress from Dr. No
Urusla Andress has played a Bond girl twice. She first appeared as Honey Ryder in Dr. No, where she donned the sexy swimsuit. Years later she played Vesper Lynd in the Bond spoof Casino Royal. The iconic scene where Andress rises out of the Caribbean sea is considered one of the sexiest moments in cinematic history.
Bikini #2 - Jill St. John from Diamonds are Forever
Jill St. John played Tiffany Case, a diamond smuggler who unknowingly hires Bond to help her in Diamonds are Forever. Also in the cast was Lana Wood, the sister of Natalie Wood. Jill St. John would later marry Natalie’s husband, Robert Wagner.
Bikini #3 - Gloria Hendry from Live and Let Die
Gloria Hendry was the first ever African American woman romantically involved with Bond. She played Rosie Carver in Live and Let Die. When the film was released in South Africa, her love scenes with Roger Moore were cut as they were outlawed due to apartheid.
Bikini #4 - Britt Ekland from The Man with the Golden Gun
Britt Ekland was born in Sweden and played Marry Goodnight in The Man with the Golden Gun. She was famously married to Peter Sellers and had a number of high profile relationships with rock 'n' rollers, including Rod Stewart and John Waite. In her later life she gained a reputation for dating “boy toys.”
Bikini #5 - Halle Berry from Die Another Day
Halle Berry donned the orange bikini in Die Another Day. The scene was in homage to Urusla Andress’ beach bikini scene in Dr. No. In Die Another Day, Halle played Jinx, a tough NSA agent who Halle described as a “more modern” and “fashion forward” Bond girl.
Bikini #6 - Gemma Arterton from Quantum of Solace
Gemma Arterton is appearing as Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace. Gemma beat over 1,500 hopefuls for the “nice-sized role.” While these photographs of her aren’t from the actual movie, we can only hope she dons a similar bikini in the film.
