2008 VGAs - Host, World Premiere and More...

Are you ready to get a glimpse at the future of gaming? We're less than 2 weeks away from the 2008 Video Game Awards, and today we are thrilled to announce our host for the LIVE show on Sunday, December 14th at 9 PM: Jack Black, one of the most versatile stars in Hollywood.

Jack's not just hosting the show...

He's also bringing along the long-awaited world premiere of Brutal Legend, his new video game with Tim Schafer.

The world premiere of Brutal Legend underscores one of the main themes of this year's show.  Yes, we'll be recognizing the Best Games of 2008 with awards, but we'll also be looking into the future with an unprecedented 10 video game world premieres.  All these games are never-before-seen titles..you'll see them first, live, and in high-definition only on the VGAs.  In a way the show feels like the new E3..we're going to be breaking a ridiculous amount of news!

But don't take my word for it.  Here, for the first time, is an overview of some of the incredible world premiers you'll see on the show - in addition, of course, to Brutal Legend:

- God of War III. Kratos soon arrives on the PlayStation 3 and only the VGAs will bring you the first-ever glimpse at this game.  And let me put all you skeptics to rest right now.  I'm happy to confirm you'll be seeing real-time gameplay footage.

- Fight Night Round 4. EA Sports President Peter Moore will be live on the VGAs to reveal the next Fight Night boxing game for the first very time anywhere in the world.  Hardcore gamers will remember the famous Fight Night Round 3 super punch that wowed the crowd at Sony's E3 press conference in 2005.  Can EA top themselves again?  Find out on LIVE on December 14th.

- Uncharted 2. Nathan Drake is back for an entirely new adventure, and at the VGAs you'll get a first-ever glimpse at this PlayStation 3 exclusive from Naughty Dog. Again, it's all real-time, in-engine action. No CG here.

- Gears of War 2 announcement.  What's next for Gears of War 2, one of the best reviewed games of the year?  You'll get to find out only at the 2008 Video Game Awards.

- Terminator Salvation.  Next summer Christian Bale brings the Terminator franchise back to life, and at the 2008 VGAs you'll get the first-ever look at the game.  (There aren't even any screenshots out online yet).

- Mafia II.  This long-awaited open world game from 2K Games arrives in 2009, and at the VGAs you'll get the first look at the game running in real-time.

- Watchmen: The End is Nigh.  Zach Snyder's film is picking up a lot of buzz online, but what about the videogame?  You'll see it in action for the first time at the VGAs when we world premiere this action brawler.

For those of you skilled at math you may realize a couple world premieres are missing. All I can say is stay tuned for more news in the days to come.

We're saving some HUGE surprises!   Stay tuned to Spike.com and GameTrailers.com for more details.
