Carlos Owen is pretty handy with a welding torch. So handy, in fact, he's built a few items of note, right in his backyard. The highlights? How about a 20-foot tall, fully functional, flame-throwing mech suit and a hoverbike?

In this interview with VBS.tv, Carlos explains the trials and tribulations of using your backyard as a workshop when you live in Alaska, his latest projects, science fiction, and the possible applications for his inventions.

If this is what this guy can do in a backyard with basic tools, imagine what he could make in an actual engineering lab. Lockheed Martin, are you listening?
