First Photo of Mickey Rourke as Whiplash
The first image of Mickey Rourke donning a power suit as Whiplash from Iron Man 2 is here. Whiplash, a.k.a. Ivan Vanko, is a Russian ex-con. His suit powers a pair of whips, though it's not clear exactly why a whip would need to be powered. Jon Favreau, the director, said this about Whiplash: "We like to play into and against the expectations that people might have, so we mixed it up a bit." Hit the jump to see the full photo.
In this photo, Whiplash is interrupting the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, and it looks like he's ready to make a fuss.
USA Today tells us this about Ivan:
Favreau as usual is tight-lipped about plot points and declines to discuss whether the big-screen Whiplash is, as in the Marvel Comics, a weapons designer who works for Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), a competitor of Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Cool stuff. It'll be interesting to see what the fully constructed version of Whiplash's suit looks like.
