It's not called Movie-Con or True Blood-Con or Japanamation-Con. Comic-Con is called Comic-Con for a reason.

The reason: it's also about comics.

This year, Marvel has released a two-poster tease for a new Avengers-centric storyline or event that's going to be revealed during their Amazing Spider-Man panel on July 15th. The first poster shows the hammer of Thor cracked and lying on the ground, and the second poster shows Wolverine's hand, claws extended, burning. Both captions read "This is War, October 2012."

Sources speculate that the posters refer to an impending Ultron War release, an end-of-days series that Avengers illustrator Bryan Hitch has been hinting at for years.

It's also been announced that Marvel is teaming up with KA by Cirque du Soleil to translate the latter's live stage performance to the page. "Marvel's proud to bring the exciting, out of this world action and adventure of KA to life in this all new comic book," said Axel Alonso, Editor in Chief, Marvel Worldwide, Inc. "This is a great comic for fans of all ages, whether they're long-time fans of Marvel, KA or new to both exciting brands of storytelling."

In other news, fans of The Walking Dead might be interested to know that the original comic version of the series will release its iconic 100th issue at Comic-Con this month. According to creator Robert Kirkman, the issue will be "the most gruesome, most violent, disturbing issue of 'The Walking Dead' yet."

New releases aside, Comic-Con has also become a forum for publishers to premiere special, exclusive editions of their comics. One of the titles to look for is a limited artist's edition of Daredevil: Born Again from IDW Publishing. The exclusive features an alternate cover of David Mazzucchelli's art and will be available at IDW's booth during the event.

Other cool product drops to look for from IDW will be a limited edition of The Crow #1, as well as G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #180, which has an alternative cover featuring a Vietnam-era Snake Eyes.
