Judge Ruins Lindsay Lohan's New Year's Eve Plans
Lindsay Lohan showed up in court today to face the music after testing positive for cocaine and violating her probation. So what's her punishment?
Lindsay Lohan will not be returning to jail. The troubled actress had been expected to receive a sentence of up to 30 days in jail for violating her probation after testing positive for cocaine. The District Attorney was gunning for a sentence of up to 180 days behind bars. Instead the actress has been ordered back to rehab.
Judge Fox ordered Lohan to return to the Betty Ford clinic. Lohan checked herself into the facility September 27 and has been there ever since. Fox told the 24-year-old it was time to get “serious” about her sobriety and career. He ordered that Lohan stay at Betty Ford until January 3. He rammed the point home that she’d spend New Year's Eve in rehab. He addressed Lohan, saying, “You're staying there past the New Year, there's a reason for that. You are an addict. I hope you understand that.”
Lohan said very little throughout the court appearance and thanked the judge once her sentenced had been handed down. She is due back in court February 25.
