Alleged Letterman Extortionist Cops Plea

Robert "Joe" Halderman, the man who recently tired to extort $2 million from David Letterman, has pleaded guilty to one count of attempted first-degree grand larceny.  As part of his plea he was sentenced to six months jail time and four-and-a-half years prohibition. On release he will have to serve 1,000 hours of community service. During sentencing Halderman told Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Charles H. Solomon, "I have great remorse and sincerely apologize to David Letterman and Stephanie Birkitt. I attempted to extort $2 million from David Letterman." Had the case gone to trial, Halderman was facing up to 15 years behind bars. [E! Online]

Some Girl from The Bachelor May Have a Sex Tape

The blogosphere is abuzz with reports that one of the girls form The Bachelor has a sex tape. Or might have a sex tape. Or doesn’t actually have a sex tape. Whatever the case, a 15-second naughty clip that might be Rozyln Papa is doing the rounds. Her people have denied it’s her, saying, “clearly [it’s] not her” and that “anyone who has met her once would know it’s not her. The woman has a different body, hands, face, everything.” We suppose you just have to decide for yourself. [WWTDD]

Jim From The Office Could Be the Next Captain America

Things are looking good for John Krasinski these days. A while back a short list of possible contenders of actors who might get cast as Steve Rodgers (a.k.a. Captain America) was leaked, and amongst them was John Krasinski, better known as Jim on The Office. But as it turns out, the only real contender for the role is Krasinski, and the actor has even read for the producers of the film four times and done two screen tests. At this point, Krasinski is the man to beat. Pretty crazy that he went from office drone to superhero in the blink of an eye. [/Film]

Borat Could Be a Man in Black

Columbia is busy putting together a cast for its third installment in the Men in Black franchise. Two guys who you might not immediately think of when you think of these movies are being put forward as possible additions to the cast. Both Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat, Bruno) and Jemaine Clement could wind up being cast in the third film, with one of them playing a character called Yaz. Will this be the funniest film yet in the franchise? It’s looking like that could be the case. [Bloody Disgusting]

Beastie Boys Delay Album as Adam Yauch Continues Cancer Recovery

After spending the second half of 2009 recovering from salivary gland cancer, Beastie Boy Adam “MCA” Yauch made an appearance at the Independent Spirit Awards last week. Yauch told EW’s Music Mix that he’s feeling significantly better and getting “energy back” after the medical treatments. The only downside of this is that Beastie Boys fans might have to wait a bit longer for the group’s new LP Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1. “It was really disappointing to have to hold the record and postpone the tour, but doctor’s orders. We may or may not [release Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1] depending on how my health is come September. We want to but we have to play it by ear,” Yauch said. Crud. Get well soon! [EW Music Mix]

Sony Signs With All Six Major Studios for HD Movies on PSN
Well, it looks like Sony has a little treat for PS3 users now that they're able to turn their consoles back on without
risking the device turning into a black brick. Sony's just announced that it has signed up all six major studios to deliver
HD movies on the PlayStation Network (the first company to do so, as Sony is happy to point out). That includes 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros., and, of course, Sony Pictures Entertainment, which combined have an initial slate of 19 HD movies available to buy or rent. Baby steps, people. Baby steps. [Pocket Link]

Windows 7 Mobile Games Will Include Xbox-Style Achievements, Gamertags, Avatars
Windows Phone 7 games will include the ability to unlock achievements on a phone as well as pulling in a user's gamertag, 2D avatar and even let gamer's know when it's their turn to play. This will all come thanks to an update to XNA Game Studio 4.0 being unveiled at the Game Developers Conference today, Microsoft's Lead Program Manager, Michael Klucher, writes on his blog. Expect quite a bit of cross-mingling between the mobile platform and the Xbox 360's, as well. [Klucher]
