'The Walking Dead' Shambles Towards The End of Season 2 In 'Amid The Ruins'

Clementine just can’t seem to stay out of harm’s way. After finally escaping the evil Carver in the last episode of The Walking Dead, her and her crew now have to deal with surviving out in the wild, once again. In Amid The Ruins, the penultimate episode of Season 2, Telltale Games takes Clementine on one of her most stressful adventures to date, as she has to continually deal with tense scenarios, coming from both inside and outside of the group.

Who:
Developer: Telltale Games
Publisher: Telltale Games

Telltale Games have really found their groove nine episodes into Clementine’s life story. Amid The Ruins offers a good balance of character and story development coupled with moving the plot forward and a seamless ending that is on one of the game’s biggest cliffhangers yet. Yeah, it’s pretty clear why they’re going ahead with a Season 3 - it's because they make great games.

What:
When we last left Clementine and her season 2 crew, they were in the latter half of a daring escape from Carver’s compound. Episode 4 picks up as they are trying to quietly maneuver their way through a horde of Walkers when (as it typically does in any form of The Walking Dead) things go all wrong. People get separated, others get bitten, and some freak out entirely, leaving the escapees scattered and broken. Part of the episode is spent picking up the pieces of the group, while the rest of it focuses on dealing with everyone once they are back together. Some of Season 2’s biggest events happen in Amid the Ruins, and the last couple of minutes of the episode really puts players to the test.

Where:
Picking up the path that you have chosen in the first three episodes of the story is easy, as Amid the Ruins can be found on every platform that featured the earlier episodes of the game: PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS Vita and iOS.

Why:
If we have learned nothing from The Walking Dead series, the last two entries of each story arc (whether it’s the game, the books, or the show) really pack a wallop, and Amid The Ruins is no different. Clementine is pushed to the limit in this episode, and she learns some very hard lessons, which don’t come easy. If you want to be ready to talk about the finale when it drops in the next couple of months, then now is the time to jump in, and help Clementine survive one of the most gut-wrenching episodes of this series.
