Bellator MMA Stacks Early 2015 With Title Fights

November 15, 2014

Bellator MMA is kicking off the new year in grand fashion, having announced main events for the first three shows of 2015, as well as the full main card for the giant February event.

January brings Bellator back to the Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula California on January 16. That event will be headlined by a Featherweight World Championship match. Champion Patricio Pitbull will attempt to defend the belt against the former champion, Daniel Straus. Pitbull is coming off a unanimous decision win over Pat Curran in September to capture the gold, while Straus finished Justin Wilcox in October.

Mohegan Sun in Connecticut will host the big February 27 card that features a British Invasion in Bellator, and TWO title fights. Douglas Lima will put his Welterweight World Championship on the line in Paul Daley's long-awaited return to American MMA. Plus, "The Hardcore Kid" Emanuel Newton will stake his Light Heavyweight World Championship against the undefeated Liam McGeary, who earned his shot in the last Light Heavyweight tournament.

Also on the Mohegan Sun card, British brawler James "The Colossus" Thompson returns to face Bobby Lashley, and Linton Vassell will test his mettle against Sokoudjou in the light heavyweight division.

And March 27, Bellator returns to the Winstar World Casino for a Bantamweight World Championship match. The (self-proclaimed) Baddest Man on The Planet, Joe Warren will square off against Marcos Galvão. Warren won their first tilt, a unanimous decision in April of 2011. Time will tell if history can repeat for the champ.
