What do you do when you’ve just defeated the Phoenix Suns in a key intra-conference basketball game? Screw Disneyland! Take your crew to Denny’s in the middle of the night to throw out homophobic slurs, hurl a chair at a 65-year-old woman, and beat up anybody who doesn’t understand your awesomeness – like a champion.
After all, that’s what Dallas Mavericks star forward Tim Thomas did earlier this week.
Quite frankly, after reading the verbiage in the police report it’s impossible to document exactly what he said or did (you know, based on our profanity policies), but the gist of it goes like this:
Thomas and his crew entered a Denny’s at around 2:00 a.m. and began verbally assaulting customers sitting across from them – who then responded by engaging in “fisticuffs” with the NBA star.
Halfway through the fight, Thomas threw a chair that ended up nailing an elderly woman at a nearby "neutral" table. (Apparently she was there celebrating her 65th birthday with family and friends at what sounds like the classiest party ever.)
The manager, who didn’t seem at all phased by a Monday night brawl in his diner, called the police who issued a report (PDF) about the events.
