When it comes to your health, no news is good news, but it's a different story when it comes to Ghostbusters 3. Ivan Reitman, the director of the first two films, might be interested in the third.
At this point Reitman is officially attached to the project, and according to Bloody Disgusting this is how things stand right now:
I have straight up confirmed, 100%, without a shadow of a doubt that Ivan Reitman, director of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, is in fact attached to get behind the camera for Ghostbusters 3. While he's attached, the word is that he hasn't decided whether or not he really wants to direct, yet. So, yeah, is that news? But here's a little something else we conjured up. Apparently, the sequel takes place when the paranormal researchers "reopen" their ghost removal service after it has been closed for quite a few years.
This is good stuff. Yes, we've heard a lot about Reitman flip-flopping on this project in the past, but now that he's attached to the movie that means he's the first person who will get offered the director's job once everything's ready to go. Will he take it? If he has any sense he will.
It's also cool to finally hear some news about what the third movie is going to entail. We kind of assumed that the story would at some point involve the reopening of the Ghostbusters pad, but maybe this means the original guys opening up shop will have more to do with the story than previously assumed. The thought of having to watch a group of newbie Ghostbusters the entire movie is not an idea many fans are relishing.
But hey -- as long as some movie involving the Ghostbusters gets made, you won't hear us complaining.
