Tesla Sport Offers More Performance, Bigger Price Tag

If the regular 'ol Tesla Roadster isn't quite on the level of performance you're looking for and you've got an extra $20,000 burning a hole in your pocket, the Tesla Roadster Sport might do the trick.

The Sport edition shaves .2 seconds off the 0-60 time, down to a "lightning" quick 3.7 seconds, putting it squarely in supercar territory, at least in terms of the stop light drag races.

The new performance comes from "a hand-wound stator and increased winding density" and some minor suspension tweaks to reign in all the weight from the 6500 batteries on board. The Roadster Sport will arrive this summer carrying a price tag of about $128,000. Of course, you can also buy a lot of Porsche for that kind of money. [Source: Motor Authority]
