Universal Studios Takes the Wraps Off the Techiest Roller Coaster Ever

June 4, 2009

Currently being constructed at Universal Studios in Orlando, the Rip Ride Rockit Coaster is setting its sights on being the techiest roller coaster in existence.

Each seat on the ride includes a "guest interface panel," which uses a touchpad interface allowing riders to choose personalized music selections they can listen to during the ride. The selection is then blasted into personal Polk Audio speaker setups designed to ensure that they hear their own music and not the music of the people around them.

Additionally, during the ride, no less than fourteen cameras will be filming the action -  six on each car, and eight cameras along each track. At the end of the ride, the footage is combined with the music selected and you're then able to take it home with you, for a price of course, a la Space Mountain's photos at Disneyland. The Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is scheduled to open later this summer. [Universal Studios]
