New Leatherman Multitool: The Freestyle CX

March 26, 2009

The great thing about the Leatherman was also always the worst thing about them.  They’ve got probably more tools than you would ever use. But the new Freestyle CX solves that problem.

Scaled down to its bare essentials, the Freestyle CX contains just a simple knife and pliers that also double as wire cutters. It uses stainless steel for the blade and part of the handle, but trades out the usual Zytel plastic for chic carbon fiber in the handle.  If you just need the basics, the Freestyle might be for you.

But if you'd like a little more, you can go with the more expensive big brother, the wildly-popular Skeletool, which retails for $72.
