The Science Behind Olympic Events Explained

February 16, 2010

I came across several fantastic video clips yesterday on the New York Times’ website and couldn’t help but share them with you. Many of the ones I’ve included below break down the science behind their respective events. Others do an incredible job of explaining the components of a gold-medal worthy performance. All of them are incredibly well done. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

And now, continuing my favorite olympic moments series, I’d like to share Shen and Zhao’s gold-medal winning pairs free figure skating performance with you. I suppose this may sound cliché, but figure skating is one of my favorite olympic events. And, after hearing Shen and Zhao’s story, I couldn’t help but root for them. While their performance wasn’t flawless, it was still absolutely breathtaking. Click the image below to watch it in its entirety.
