Rick Astley Wins Best Act Ever!

by dsussman   November 07, 2008 at 2:12PM  |  Views: 190

Not sure how this happened, but 42-year-old pop star Rick Astley took home the award for “Best Act Ever” at the MTV Europe Music Awards last evening at Liverpool's Echo Arena. Rick received 100 million fan votes to take the title ahead of international stars such as U2, Britney Spears and The Beatles. Mr. Astley received more votes than all of the night's other winners combined.

Unfortunately, Rick wasn’t able to attend the show, but in his absence the award was scooped up by Katy Perry and Perez Hilton who attempted to charm the audience with an embarrassing dance routine to his famous track “Never Going To Give You Up.”

In a statement Astley said, "I am honoured that my fans worked so hard to help me win Best Act Ever at the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards. This is the first time I have been nominated for the EMAs and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me."

I can't believe this guy Rickrolled all of Europe.
