Hummer HX Concept: The Urban Assault Vehicle for Suburbia

September 29, 2008

In an effort to capture a younger (Halo playing) market segment, Hummer unveiled the HX concept at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, going toe-to-toe with the likes of the the Toyota FJ Cruiser and Jeep Wrangler.

The HX takes a decidely sci-fi approach to its UAV business, and curbs everywhere are now trembling in fear.

I have to admit, that thing looks pretty badass, but I find myself doubting that the production version is going to sport those chunky 20 inch rims and 35 inch tires and the front and rear Warthog-esque skidplates.

The concept will also come to the show equipped with 6-piston Brembo brakes, and a 300+ horsepower V6 mated to a six-speed auto gearbox.

Doubting that stuff will make it to production either, since its bigger brother, the H3, was getting around via a 240hp 5 cylinder up until last year. Still, if it just had a 50-cal mounted to the back…

Dare to dream, kids. Dare to dream. [Source: Yahoo]
