DIY Carpenter Makes the iPad Less Portable, More Kitchen-Friendly
Despite some by-design shortcomings, we have to admit, the iPad is a pretty interesting piece of gear. With the device very much still in its infancy, we've only seen a small glimpse of the ingenious ways people will apply it various tasks. As such, we are only now just learning that the iPad is actually quite good in the kitchen.
Alan Daly fashioned this simple mounting system to the back of one of the cabinets in his kitchen, and in turn made this iPad into a cookbook, in-kitchen entertainment system, and soothing aquarium in one fell swoop. Alan says that he's currently feeding audio into some off-screen mini speakers, but will be replacing those with powered hi-fi units in the near future in order to up the multimedia ante a bit.
It's an interesting way to solve the problem of having to hold the device while busy doing other tasks, to be sure. But we can't help but wonder why you'd want to disable one of the tablet's strongest assets - portability - for the sake of a room in your house you're going to probably spend less time in than many, if not all, the other ones.
