Recession About to Strike Our Stomachs as Bacon Prices Soar for the Summer
The recent kindergarten-style squabble over the debt ceiling and the subsequent recession has created a lot of uncertainty and frustration. Now thanks to this news, it could cause a full scale yet satisfying-smelling riot.
Analysts are predicting that the price of bacon, the smoky-tasting pork product that brings nothing but pure joy into this world, is about to skyrocket.
The price of pork bellies shot up to $130 per 100 pounds and is expected to top out at $150 per 100 pounds by the end of August. That means that distributors could drive the price of the world's greatest meat product to nearly $6 a package.
Of course, if you're that strapped for cash, there are alternative ways to get your daily allowances of fried meat and cholesterol. Thankfully, science has developed all sorts of new, unique bacon replacements such as Bacon Salt, bacon soda, the almighty Baconnaise and even bacon pops.
