Kung Fu Squirrels' Fists of Furry

December 11, 2008

Cape Ground Squirrels in Etosha, Namibia use their tails to shield themselves from the blistering sun.  They use their claws to burrow and keep themselves out of trouble.  And they use the ancient martial tradition of Kung Fu to beat the living piss out of each other. It’s like that movie Kung Fu Panda, but without Jack Black and with real blood and ferocity.

Award-winning British photographer David J. Slater was there to see the deadly ballet performed by the squirrels, but the Daily Mail makes no remarks in regard to his survival of the bout.
