Bar Refaeli is Officially the Cover Girl of 2009's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue

Israeli model Bar Refaeli is officially the 2009 cover girl of the iconic Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. The 23-year-old beauty joins a long list of stunning models to grace the cover. David Letterman unveiled her cover of Monday night's Late Show.

Bar Rafaeli was born in Israel in 1985. She began modeling at age 5. By age 15 she was modeling for major fashion brands in Israel. She first appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue in 2007, appearing alongside rock band Aerosmith. She was also featured in the 2008 issue. Bar is the first Israeli model to appear in the magazine.

Bar is currently dating actor Leonardo DiCaprio. There is speculation in the media that DiCaprio pushed for Rafaeli to be this year’s cover girl as payback to ex-girlfriend Gisele Bündchen, who has yet to appear solo on the famed cover.

The issue hits newsstands today.
