Scream 4 Writer Gives Us the Skinny

Kevin Williamson, the writer of Scream 4 (as well as the first two Scream movies), recently brought everyone up to speed with what the new sequel has in store. Yes, it will have Neve Campbell -- but don't expect all of the original gang to be assembling.

According to MTV:

"The fourth one is an ensemble," Williamson said of his Scream 4 script, which is being concurrently written with a fifth script as well. "It'll take place right now, 10 years later, and it's going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woodsboro. We'll have our three main characters, and we'll be introducing several more." The three characters that will be returning are Sidney (Neve Campbell), Gale (Courteney Cox) and Dewey (David Arquette).

Whether or not Wes Craven is returning is not known, we could very well see a different director helm part four. One way or another this thing is actually going to be happen. Will Scream fans scream for joy? Are there any Scream fans out there who are still interested?

At this point in time the Scream franchise feels like a relic of the '90s, Scream 3 having been released in 2000. But with this much of the original talent put together it seems like they can't go wrong.

Apparently, however, in part four the rules have changed. The killer is going to have to go about their dirty business in different ways -- whatever that might mean.

So is Scream 4 going to bring the franchise back to life, or remind us of how washed-up Arquette and Campbell are?

Oh, and check out the first poster for Scream 4.
