The Avengers Officially Has a Screenplay

Joe Quesada, the editor-in-chief for Marvel Comics, recently Tweeted that he was in the process of printing up an official script for The Avengers.

The screenwriter of The Avengers, Zak Penn, has turned in a first draft. The film is scheduled to be released on May 4th, 2012. This is good news for any fanboys who ever doubted that The Avengers film wasn't going to be a reality.

Here's the link to Quesada's Tweet.

So does the release of Captain America have any bearing on this? Is Edward Norton going to play The Hulk? Is Jon Favreau definitely not directing? When are we going to get some casting news?

All these questions will have to wait for now. We'll simply have to be satisfied with the fact that there is a script and it is going to get made.

This kind of news just makes you watch the clock and count the minutes until Iron Man 2 hits theaters. We could use another trailer right about now. Am I wrong?
