Lil Wayne Sued For Copyright Infringement

November 2, 2009

Lil Wayne and Birdman have been hit with a copyright lawsuit for using a Florida man’s voice on some of their Cash Money tracks.

Thomas Marasciullo filed a copyright infringement lawsuit Friday in a Manhattan federal court against the MCs and their record label Cash Money. The lawsuit states that Cash Money Records had Marasciullo record some "Italian-styled" vocals in 2006 and his work was used without pay or permission on the song "Respect" and other tracks from the rappers' 2006 LP Like Father, Like Son and Birdman's 2007 album 5 Star Stunna.

A lawyer and representatives for the label have made no comment. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for Marasciullo.
