Ryan Reynolds Wins Out on Green Lantern

by nathanbloch   July 13, 2009 at 1:39PM  |  Views: 60

The unlikely trio of Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake, and Ryan Reynolds have been vying for the role of the Green Lantern for awhile, but the rivalry has finally come to end: Reynolds won out and is the official Green Lantern.

Reynolds is now in the enviable position of having two comic book character franchises for two different labels. He's Deadpool for Marvel and the Green Lantern for DC Comics. He's the first actor to have scored such an impressive comic book coup, though it remains to be seen whether either of these franchises will find a large fanbase.

According to Movieweb, Jard Leto was also in contention for the role but Reynolds is the last man standing in this comic book stand-off. Here's hoping he knocks it out of the park.
