Florida's Solar City of the Future

Predictably, the Sunshine State will be the first place in the world for an entire city powered by the sun.  But how are they actually going to do it?

Babcock Ranch is a concept community that is being planned for construction in southwest Florida that will be entirely free from fossil fuels.  All of its power will come from city solar panels which will make its carbon footprint a fraction of what traditional urban planning would leave.  

The community plans to accomplish this by building and running the “largest on-site solar plant in the world” and by utilizing energy-saving techniques and technologies.  For more information, check out their homepage
