Funniest Oscars Yet?

Hugh Jackman is out for next year's Academy Awards, which leaves plenty of room for Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin to co-host. A seemingly odd couple, the two are appearing in the upcoming movie It's Complicated. Will these guys outshine Jackman?

The Los Angeles Times made the announcement:

Martin, who hosted the 73rd and 75th Oscar ceremonies, said in a statement: “I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin.”

“I don’t play the banjo but I am thrilled to be hosting the Oscars -- it’s the opportunity of a lifetime,” said movie buff Baldwin in a statement. Though Baldwin will be making his hosting debut, he’s no stranger to the Academy Awards having been nominated for a supporting actor Oscar for 2003’s  The Cooler.

There's no doubt that Martin will be in his element for the Oscars, and while Baldwin has made his comedic talents clear to all in the last couple of years, it's less certain that he'll take to an awards format.

All in all, it will be nice to have a ceremony with less singing and dancing and more gut-splitting comedy. If it's half as funny as the other two ceremonies Martin hosted, then we have an awesome awards season ahead of us.

As for the two actors sharing the stage, it seems like Baldwin's dour persona will complement the sometimes ridiculous Martin. This could be the awesomest Oscar awards ceremony yet.
