Are the Rumors About a True Lies Sequel True?

bynathanbloch   August 03, 2009 at 2:10PM  |  Views: 53

Ever the reliable source, actor Tom Arnold has been talking up a storm about making True Lies 2 with James Cameron and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Is there actually any truth to this? That's another matter altogether.

Tom Arnold recently had a profile in The New York Times, and at the end of the article he spoke about the possibility:

All I know is Jim Cameron's making it and Arnold [Schwarzenegger] and I are going to be in it, and it starts shooting in 14 months, the day after Arnold stops being governor of California… It's not going to be called True Lies II, but it might as well be. I can live with that.

At this point there is no validity to his claim. Cameron is neck-deep in Avatar and publicly stated at this year's Comic-Con that he's still mulling over the possibility of doing Battle Angel. On top of that, Schwarzenegger is still the governor of California and hasn't said anything about jumping right back into bed with Hollywood.

Sure, this film might happen some day, but it's much more likely that if Cameron and Schwarzenegger work together again it will be without Tom Arnold. But who knows? Maybe Arnold will get his wish.

And maybe monkeys will learn to fly.
