As Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley continue defending their tag team titles, they discuss their new album that’s coming out and the reality of getting hurt in the ring.
What a busy, bitter, and sweet couple of weeks it has been.

Sweet because I am also set and ready to head out to Washington state to camp and hike at Olympic National Park. Rainforests, mountains, and beaches here I come!
And even more sweet because Alex and I are still TNA Tag Team champions, staying alive in the best of five against our arch nemesis Beer Money.
Bitter because we are also against the wall in the best of five series. Down, and one match away from losing the titles. It's a good thing we perform at our best when the pressure is on.
Also bitter because my cat Thunderhorse has been missing for almost a week. What a bummer it is to possibly lose a pet!
And busy because of well, all of the above.

When I first started wrestling, I remember I still utilized the same dives outside the ring I still use today: A suicide dive through the ropes, a slingshot plancha, and a springboard plancha over an adjacent set of ropes. Diving onto people above concrete takes a lot of guts to do, I think, but the more you do it, the more you convince yourself you're unstoppable when doing so.
Anyway, wrestling Beer Money in an Ultimate X match is equally dangerous. Trying to do one of my finishing moves on the apron of the ring is dangerous too. Landing on the floor knees first is dangerous, and I paid the price.
Post-match, no big deal. Pain, but adrenaline along with it means I won't feel anything for awhile. Gradual stiffness over the evening turns into more stiffness and swelling the next day. It's weird how some injuries don't set in for awhile. The saying that "bodies in motion stay in motion" applies here.
When I got home on Wednesday, I thought, man, I think I'm injured. But there's a difference between injured and hurt. Hurt, to me, means you're damaged, you're out for awhile, you're on the bench. Injured means it's not terribly serious. Wrestlers get hurt all the time. My tag partner and one of my best friends tells me how he can't even relax on an airplane because the bone chips in his elbow get rattled should he rest his arms on the armrests. I can tell when rotten weather is coming because of the metal plates in my jaw. I've seen guys stretch before their matches for the better part of an hour because that's what they need to do to loosen up.
My knee feels like it did the first time I tried a suicide dive in a match waaay back in 2002. I smashed into another dude, and his kneecap stabbed into mine. My knee swelled up then, and it sucked powerwashing cars for the rest of the week because I was incredibly slow.
Thank God I don't have to shammy any Fords today.
