Alice Cooper Hates Vampire Weekend

September 3, 2009

Vintage rock ‘n’ roll icon Alice Cooper has a bone to pick with wimpy indie bands, especially New York’s critically-acclaimed Vampire Weekend. It's on!

In a sit down with Noisecreep, Cooper let his frustrations fly when it came to the lack of new balls-to-the-wall rock ‘n’ roll acts:

Are all American bands metro-sexual now? I heard the title Vampire Weekend and I thought, 'Oh, man, that's gonna be great. I gotta see it.’ And there are these guys with little Gap T-shirts on and I'm going…’What happened to the balls in rock 'n' roll? Why are American bands so wimpy?’

I gotta agree with Alice here. We’ve gone from bands that were musically unique and legitimately dangerous to indie-pop wimps who copy Paul Simon note for note on every song they put out.
