Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be seeing bikini-clad women this winter. A cool new fad is sweeping the world and it is called bikini skiing. The concept is fairly straightforward, women ski or snowboard down the mountain wearing nothing but their bikinis.
Over the weekend at a ski resort in New Zealand, 30 people hit the ski slops dressed as if they were heading off to the beach. The skiers braved the 23 degree weather to take part in the Rip Curl-K2 Bikini Downhill and raise money for breast cancer. The event raised over $2,000 and delighted excited onlookers.
Bikini skiing is a phenomenon that’s likely to sweep across the northern hemisphere as the months get cooler. The video below was shot last year at California’s Mammoth Mountain. Finally, the bikini has become a year-round article of clothing.
