A new study released out of the Boston University of Public Health has proven that even drinking in light or moderate amounts (1-14 drinks a week) will shrink your brain. But, don’t worry, boys, it mostly just shrinks the girls’ brains.
The study suggests that everybody who drinks has a brain that's just a little shrunken, but men have less shrinkage (for once) than women:
Men were more likely to be heavy drinkers than women. But the link between brain volume and alcohol wasn't as strong in men. For men, only those who were heavy drinkers had a smaller brain volume than those who consumed little or no alcohol.
Thank you, science, for proving with numbers what has been suspected on and around college campuses nationwide for decades.
Kind of. The study does go on to say that although the actual size of the brains of participants reacted to the amount of alcohol consumed, there was no cognitive deficit proved in this study. But just because this study didn't prove alcohol makes you dumber, it doesn't mean it's not true. They proved it in this one.
And as far as brain size relating to intelligence, I think need not look any further than Krang for the proof we need.
