Official news hitting the interwebs today is confirming that makers of the upcoming Marc Webb Spider-Man reboot have found a new Peter Parker.
According to numerous reports, the role of Peter Paker has gone to The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus actor Andrew Garfield.
Sony Pictures announced through a press release today that Garfield has been selected to take on Peter Parker in the studio's new Spider-Man franchise. As already confirmed, (500) Days of Summer mastermind Marc Webb will direct and screenwriter James Vanderbilt will pen the action-adventure. According to the press release, the finished product is scheduled to hit movie theaters on July 3, 2012. Garfield should start getting ready for the role immediately.
"Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor's work understand his extraordinary talents," director Marc Webb said of Garfield in the statement. "He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker."
Garfield beats out Josh Hutcherson, Jamie Bell, Anton Yelchin, and Aaron Johnson for the role. Good luck, kid! You better bring it!
