Those of you lamenting the cancelation of the 2010 Camaro Z28 variant, buck up. Hennessey's got ya covered.
While the SS version of the new Camaro puts out a very stout 422HP and can clock a quarter mile in 13 seconds flat, those looking to take on the new Mustang Shelby GT500, with its 540 ponies, are going to need just a li'l more. With the state of GM as it is now, the Z28 was among one of the first projects to hit the chopping block when it came time to trim the company's budget.
Fear not though, because the HPE550 Camaro is ready to fill those shoes. Starting with a stock SS Camaro, Hennessey outfits the Camaro’s LS3 V8 with a Magnuson supercharger and a Corsa exhaust, boosting engine output to 562-horsepower and 557lb-ft of torque.
The HPE550 Camaro also comes with Hennessey’s exclusive Cam-Aero kit which includes a Hennessey graphics package, lightweight 20″ wheels, as well as a carbon fiber rear lip spoiler, rocker panels and front splitter. Hennessey claims the HPE550 Camaro can make the sprint from 0-60 mph in a mere 3.9 seconds, and lap a quarter mile in a mere 11.9 seconds. That, my friends, is inching up on supercar territory.
