Woman with Too Much Time and Money Builds Mansion in Homeless Hot Spot

Real estate is always a tricky venture. Most people will tell you that owning property is a great investment, but to always make sure you purchase it wisely. That’s exactly what one woman did while building a giant mansion on an area affectionately referred to as “Skid Row.” Yahoo! reports “Looming over a barren industrial neighborhood locals call skid row, stands Gertrude Zachary's castle. Rising like a fortress between a rescue mission and the railroad tracks, the estate is encircled by a wall 10 feet high. Within is a pool, courtyard garden, guest home, and a 8,500-square-foot main home with four turrets each rising 50 feet into the air.” Sounds like the opening to a Shakespearian play about poor money management.
