The actor playing Percy Jackson in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Logan Lerman, could be the next guy to don the Spider-Man suit. This is a pretty big change from Tobey Maguire who actually, you know, is a proven actor.
Access Hollywood reports that Logan Lerman is in talks with Sony to possibly take over web-slinging duties from Tobey Maguire, though everything is only in discussions right now. Lerman has expressed much interest in becoming the next Spider-Man:
“It’s one of my favorite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series,” he continued. “I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it. ...It’s just, you know, conversations are starting. It’s a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it’s definitely a project that I’m really interested in, of course,” he told Billy. “I’d love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It’d be such a fun experience.”
The human element. Mmhm. Yeah, because the Spider-Man franchise is really about to shed its blockbuster status to become a character-driven dramedy.
Anyway, we'll just have to wait and see exactly how seriously Sony is considering Lerman -- and how well or poorly Percy Jackson fares at the box office.
