Joss Whedon Confirmed For ‘The Avengers 2′

It was announced yesterday during the Walt Disney Investors Conference Call that Joss Whedon will satisfy every geeks dream and indeed return to helm The Avengers sequel. Whedon is signed to both write as well as direct. Disney confirmed that Whedon is also involved in developing ABC's live-action television series that will be set inside the Marvel cinematic world.

Bob Iger, Walt Disney Company CEO, said that Whedon has signed a three-year exclusive deal, which means Avengers 2 should be here in 2015.

A few months before The Avengers premiered, Whedon told British mag SFX that he felt a second installment to the film should be "smaller, more personal, more painful." Whedon also expressed his hesitation to return to make a sequel after The Avengers hit the $1 billion mark. "It's an enormous amount of work telling what is ultimately somebody else's story, even though I feel like I did get to put myself into it," he said to Hero Complex. "But at the same time, I have a bunch of ideas, and they all seem really cool."

Last month at San Diego Comic-Con, Whedon told CNN Geek Out, "It's kind of an exciting time right now, but it's an exciting time of me waiting to make sure I don't get so excited that I do the wrong thing." For Whedon's legions of fans, this is just another reason why Joss is the man on all fronts.
