"Skank" Sues Google
A former Vogue cover girl is suing Google after an anonymous blog labeled her a “skank” and an “old hag.” Liskula Cohen, a 36-year-old model and socialite, hopes to unearth the author of SkanksNYC, a blog created on Google’s Blogger platform. She has filed a defamation suit in New York City in an effort to force the search engine giant to reveal the blogger's identity. Cohen tearfully said she was disgusted by the site and said "I'm tall, I'm blond, I've been modeling for many years, and people get jealous." Cry me a river. [NY Daily News]

Shazam: Another One Bites the Dust
For those fans of Shazam who still exist, today was a grim day. Screenwriter John August announced that today the Shazam movie (as he knew it) is a dead deal. The reasons are complicated and numerous, but it basically comes down to the ol’ sleight of hand trick: while we’re watching one thing, the studios do their dirty business without anyone noticing. Originally New Line had the project, but by the time the writer’s strike was over it had been passed over to Warner Bros., who then decided they wanted the film to be “edgier” than August had originally conceived it. After a lot of unreturned phone calls the film got deep sixed by Warner Bros. Will Shazam ever be resurrected? August says, “It may come back in another incarnation, with another writer, but I can say with considerable certainty that it won't be the version I developed.” [FirstShowing.net]
