Girl in Short, Short Dress Attacked and Expelled

November 9, 2009

A student has caused a riot and been expelled from a University in Brazil after wearing an “immoral” miniskirt.

Geisy Arruda hoped to turn a few heads and grab some attention when she wore a short pink dress to the Universidade Bandeirante (Uniban), a private University on the outskirts of Sao Paulo, on October 22nd. What she didn’t expect was to be heckled, attacked and kicked out of the school.

The university released a statement saying it had expelled the 20-year-old for “flagrant disrespect of ethical principles, academic dignity and morality." The University went even further, publishing an advertisement in its newspaper accusing Arruda of attending class with "inadequate clothing" and having a provocative attitude that was "incompatible with the university environment."

In fear of her safety, Arruda was escorted off the campus by six military police officers. She was made to wear a white lab coat to cover her offending article of clothing as hundreds of students screamed and chanted the word “whore.”

In a country known for Carnival, the bikini, and the Brazilian wax it is hard to fathom that a student would be expelled because of a short dress. If Brazil doesn’t want her, I’m sure many other universities across the globe would be happy to take her.
