5. Lea Michele

Lea Michele is the leading lady of television’s newest critical darling, the hit show Glee. The series, about a bunch of high school glee club kids, won the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy Series, beating out shows such as The Office and 30 Rock. Lea was also nominated for a Globe for leading actress in a sitcom. Expect her to rack up even more nominations and possibly take home this year’s Emmy. The 23-year-old Broadway singer is talented, quirky, and funny. She is the heart of the show which has already spawned two hit CDs, countless tours, and is beloved by the American Idol generation (and theater/choir geeks). Expect to see here everywhere once the show resumes in April.
4. Amanda Seyfried

This year Amanda Seyfried steps up from supporting character to lead in a bunch of interesting films. The 24-year-old, who fans of Big Love, Mamma Mia, or Jennifer’s Body already know, stars in three films set for release this year. First up is Dear John, from the writer of The Notebook. Could this role do for Seyfried what it did for Rachel McAdams? Also due out is Chloe, an erotic thriller where Seyfried plays an escort hired to test whether a man is cheating on his wife and becomes tangled up in a strange affair with both the husband and wife. If the trailer is anything to go by, Seyfried gets naked and plays a character that could be the next Alex Forrest from Fatal Attraction or Catherine Tramell from Basic Instinct.

If 2009 was the year of Lady Gaga, 2010 is likely to be the year of Ke$ha. The 22-year-old “white-girl rapper” burst onto the scene this year with her debut single Tik-Tok, which was downloaded 610,000 times in it’s first week alone. That made it the highest digital total for a female artist in one week, ever. With her own unique sense of style, which she describes as a mixture of “garbage-chic” and Keith Richards, Ke$ha is hardly your cookie-cutter blonde pop star. With more hit singles expected from debut album Animal this year, Ke$ha is finally earning the dollar sign that is so prominent in her name.

This could be model Brooklyn Decker’s year to shine. The 22-year-old is the hot favorite to be this year’s cover girl of the famed Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The unusually named model (her name sounds like a bus route) would be the perfect choice to grace the cover of the iconic issue for two reasons. Firstly, she’s a huge sports fan (she even married a sport star - tennis player Andy Roddick) and regularly appears on sports radio discussing the NFL and NCAA basketball. Secondly, she has appeared in the issue every year since 2006. Photos of the model posing for the 2010 issue have already been leaked online and if they are anything to go by, she’s going to make the perfect cover girl.
1. Blake Lively

Of all the CW starlets currently on television, Blake Lively is fast becoming the one who will cross over and have a real and lasting film career. She has just wrapped a major role in Ben Affleck’s latest film The Town. Affleck gushes about his leading lady, saying he was blown away by how “f***ing good” she is in the film. If Blake’s role in The Town garners critical acclaim, her next role is definitely going to thrust her into the mainstream. It has just been announced that Blake will play Carol Ferris in the comic book film Green Lantern. A break like that could lead to mega-stardom. There is one thing we know for certain: Blake is going to have a lively year.
