Olivia Munn has been on the radar of geeks and nerds for some time, but this year you can expect her to blow up thanks to some high profile roles in big summer films. You’ll see Munn in the highly anticipated Iron Man 2 and in the Tina Fey/Steve Carell action comedy Date Night. Also due out over the summer is Munn’s first ever book, Suck It, Wonder Woman: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek. In the meantime, expect to see Olivia popping up on endless magazine covers, like the January issue of Maxim, looking hotter than ever.
9. Miley Cyrus

Fellas, set your countdown clocks because come November 23rd, 2010, Miley Cyrus will no longer be jailbait. The Disney starlet will officially turn 18 this year and the media is likely to make it a big event. That also means she’s likely to get a whole lot raunchier and a whole lot sexier in a bid to reach a larger audience (we’re talking mainly teenage boys). Already she’s been preparing to drop her teen image, announcing that this will be the last season of her hit tweener television show Hannah Montana. If you think Miley was raunchy in the past, get ready for your minds to explode.
8. Mia Wasikowska

You may not know who Mia Wasikowska is or how to pronounce her name, but come March when Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is released, Mia is bound to become a household name. The 20-year-old Australian actress plays the title role in this buzz-heavy film. Mia is a trained ballet dancer who has been acting for the past six years. She is probably best known to American audiences for her role in HBO’s In Treatment and for supporting roles in Defiance and Amelia. Get set for a wild ride down the rabbit hole with Mia.
7. Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan is a 24-year-old British actress who is in line to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress this year for her role in An Education. The talented actress also had supporting roles in Brothers, another film with Oscar buzz, as well as the 2009 Michael Mann flick Public Enemies. Later in the year you can see her in Oliver Stone’s highly anticipated sequel to Wall Street, Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. That film also stars her boyfriend Shia LeBeouf. The couple has kept a pretty low profile of late, but as her stock rises in Hollywood you can expect to see Carey and Shia everywhere.
6. Mila Kunis

While Mila Kunis is already very well known, the former sitcom star is slowly and surely shedding her old image and building a solid film career. Already in theaters this year is the big-on-style, low-on-substance film The Book of Eli and audiences are damn thankful when she’s on the screen. Kunis also appears in a supporting role in Date Movie, due out this summer. While these roles will cement Kunis’ place in Hollywood, it is her role in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan that might just be career her defining moment.
In the psychological thriller Kunis plays a rival ballet dancer to Natalie Portman’s. It has been reported that Kunis and Portman have filmed a graphic love scene and according to Carson Reeves, who’s read the script, the scene is “not just nice sweet innocent sex either. We’re talking ecstasy-induced hungry aggressive angry sex.” Wowzer. This just might be the most anticipated scene in a film -- this year or ever. Also, with Aronofsky’s track record, expect Kunis to receive some major award season buzz come 2011.
5. Lea Michele

Lea Michele is the leading lady of television’s newest critical darling, the hit show Glee. The series, about a bunch of high school glee club kids, won the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Comedy Series, beating out shows such as The Office and 30 Rock. Lea was also nominated for a Globe for leading actress in a sitcom. Expect her to rack up even more nominations and possibly take home this year’s Emmy. The 23-year-old Broadway singer is talented, quirky, and funny. She is the heart of the show which has already spawned two hit CDs, countless tours, and is beloved by the American Idol generation (and theater/choir geeks). Expect to see here everywhere once the show resumes in April.
4. Amanda Seyfried

This year Amanda Seyfried steps up from supporting character to lead in a bunch of interesting films. The 24-year-old, who fans of Big Love, Mamma Mia, or Jennifer’s Body already know, stars in three films set for release this year. First up is Dear John, from the writer of The Notebook. Could this role do for Seyfried what it did for Rachel McAdams? Also due out is Chloe, an erotic thriller where Seyfried plays an escort hired to test whether a man is cheating on his wife and becomes tangled up in a strange affair with both the husband and wife. If the trailer is anything to go by, Seyfried gets naked and plays a character that could be the next Alex Forrest from Fatal Attraction or Catherine Tramell from Basic Instinct.

If 2009 was the year of Lady Gaga, 2010 is likely to be the year of Ke$ha. The 22-year-old “white-girl rapper” burst onto the scene this year with her debut single Tik-Tok, which was downloaded 610,000 times in it’s first week alone. That made it the highest digital total for a female artist in one week, ever. With her own unique sense of style, which she describes as a mixture of “garbage-chic” and Keith Richards, Ke$ha is hardly your cookie-cutter blonde pop star. With more hit singles expected from debut album Animal this year, Ke$ha is finally earning the dollar sign that is so prominent in her name.
2. Brooklyn Decker

This could be model Brooklyn Decker’s year to shine. The 22-year-old is the hot favorite to be this year’s cover girl of the famed Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The unusually named model (her name sounds like a bus route) would be the perfect choice to grace the cover of the iconic issue for two reasons. Firstly, she’s a huge sports fan (she even married a sport star - tennis player Andy Roddick) and regularly appears on sports radio discussing the NFL and NCAA basketball. Secondly, she has appeared in the issue every year since 2006. Photos of the model posing for the 2010 issue have already been leaked online and if they are anything to go by, she’s going to make the perfect cover girl.
1. Blake Lively

Of all the CW starlets currently on television, Blake Lively is fast becoming the one who will cross over and have a real and lasting film career. She has just wrapped a major role in Ben Affleck’s latest film The Town. Affleck gushes about his leading lady, saying he was blown away by how “f***ing good” she is in the film. If Blake’s role in The Town garners critical acclaim, her next role is definitely going to thrust her into the mainstream. It has just been announced that Blake will play Carol Ferris in the comic book film Green Lantern. A break like that could lead to mega-stardom. There is one thing we know for certain: Blake is going to have a lively year.
