BEGINNING ASSESSMENT: Rome's entertaining warrior, the Roman Gladiator, comes to battle against Sparta's walking tanks, the Greek Spartan!
SHORT RANGE: Sica Sword.
MEDIUM RANGE: Trident.
LONG RANGE: Sling.
SPECIAL: Cestus & Scissor.
SHORT RANGE: Xiphos Shortsword.
MEDIUM RANGE: Spear.
LONG RANGE: Javelin.
SPECIAL: Spartan Shield.
SICA vs XIPHOS. EDGE = SICA.
The Sica is shaped to go around shields and armor, and compared to the Xiphos, it has greater slashing lethality.
TRIDENT vs SPEAR. EDGE = SPEAR.
Even though the Trident has three prongs instead of one, the Spear is thicker then all of them combined, and that gives it greater lethality.
SLING vs JAVELIN. EDGE = EVEN!
Both the Sling and the Javelin aren't great weapons, the Sling doesn't have much killing power, and the Javelin doesn't have accuracy. As I see it, both aren't going to be effective.
CESTUS vs SCISSOR vs SHIELD. EDGE = SHIELD.
While the Scissor can slash at only the neck, the Spartan and his Shield won't let that happen. It has larger area, having four feet instead half a foot.
A Spartan, trying out his pankration skills, is awaiting for a new warrior. He sees his new pankration fighter, but it's not a fellow Spartan. The warrior has a three-pronged looking spear, so after taking an eyefull, and knowing this is going to be more then just pankration, he grabs his shield and spear. Both the spearhead and the trident prongs lock together, and after a minute of trying to pull back, the Spartan runs in and knocks the Gladiator down. The Spartan runs for cover in the mean time, and puts on his armor, greaves, and helmet.
The Gladiator gets up, and plants the trident into the ground. The Spartan also plants his spear into the ground, and both take out their swords. They both confront eachother again, and they clash blades. The sica was able to reach over the top of the Spartan's shield and lacerates his shoulder. To retalliate, the Spartan throws up the shield, again, and the Gladiator falls down. When he hits the ground, he rolls away, and now is twenty feet away. He readies his sling and shoots it.
The projectile hit the shield, and the Spartan steadies, and throws a javelin. The Gladiator was able to pull his own shield off his back, but wasn't able to run away in time. The javelin hit his shield, both destroying it, and taking the Gladiator down. After getting up for the third time, he put on a scissor, ran up to his enemy, and started slashing at the Spartan's shield.
The Spartan pulls out his xiphos again, and slashes at the metal claw. Instead, it got caught by the curved piece, and both locked together. After a while the scissor was pulled off, the xiphos was dropped, and the spear was taken out. It pierced the heart of the Gladiator. He instantly died, and the spear was pulled out. The Gladiator went limp and fell.
ENDING ASSESSMENT: Due to not having armor in the right place, the three slicing weapons were heavily stacked in kills.
BEST PERFORMING WEAPON: The Spartan's fearsome Spear gained 208 kills.
LEAST PERFORMING WEAPON: The Gladiator's Sling was not very deadly; only 33.
