Phil Collins Will Never Play the Drums Again

bydsussman   September 11, 2009 at 4:30PM  |  Views:  |  Comment

Phil Collins has officially announced that he will never play the drums again. Am I really crying right now?

Phil is suffering from a very serious spine injury, and he apparently can't even hold his drumsticks due to years of constant touring and the position of which he sits in front of his kit. Phil broke down the sad news for the Daily Mail:

After playing drums for 50 years, I've had to stop. My vertebrae have been crushing my spinal cord because of the position I drum in… It comes from years of playing. I can't even hold the sticks properly without it being painful. I even used to tape the sticks to my hands to get through. Don't worry, I can still sing.

I guess this means the original lineup of Genesis will never be able to do a legitimate comeback tour. I’m sure Peter Gabriel is breathing a sigh of relief.
