John Frusciante Quits the Red Hot Chili Peppers?

December 14, 2009

Sources are reporting that Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has officially left the band.

Musicradar posted a report stating that Frusciante has already been replaced by Josh Klinghoffer. Klinghoffer played as an additional 5th member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers during their 2007 Stadium Arcadium tour.

"Josh Klinghoffer has been playing with the group for a couple of months now," a source close to the band explained. "Optimistically, the Peppers are trying to lock down a replacement for John, who has apparently quit.”

The source went on to say that Frusciante has been antsy to depart the band for quite some time now: "Mentally, John checked out a long time ago. He's interested in doing his own thing, his own albums - the whole big rock band machinery just doesn't appeal to him anymore."

It’s really hard not to sympathize with John on this one. It can’t be easy writing the same song everyday for over a decade.
