Tracy Morgan Hosting Hip Hop Honors
Tonight on VH1, Hip Hop Honors 2009 will be honoring a record label for the very first time. Host Tracy Morgan and a slew of superstar hip-hop performers and presenters will be celebrating the incredible legacy of Def Jam Recordings. Tracy Morgan’s rapping alter ego will also be in full effect! Scoopy Giles, son!
Performers at the event will include Eminem, The Roots, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Public Enemy, The Roots, DMX, Gym Class Heroes, and Ludacris. Although the highlight of the evening may be a rare appearance by old school Def Jam rapper Scoopy Giles.
Scoopy Giles is still a mystery to many hip-hop diehards, but hopefully the limelight from the Hip Hop Honors ceremony will change all that. Here’s a peak at his 1988 banger “Dumplin’ Butts:”
