The Police and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg had at a press conference today in Times Square announcing the band's final concert ever. It will be held in New York on a date still to be revealed in August.

"We kicked off our very first American tour at CBGB's in 1978 and this summer, thirty years later, our journey will come full circle as we play our final show here in New York City," said The Police. "We are honored to partner with public television and have a deep respect for their commitment to arts and culture."

This final concert will be a fundraiser with proceeds benefiting the production of arts programming for public television stations Thirteen/WNET and WLIW New York. Additionally, Sting and the Police announced that they will contribute $1 million to Mayor Bloomberg's MillionTreesNYC initiative, a gift that will help plant trees all over New York City.

Since when did The Police get all earthy? This is what they get for letting Sting speak for the band. What’s next? Free tantric sex lessons for the homeless?!
